"As a Midwesterner, I've never had the opportunity to leisurely sit on the shores of the ocean and take everything in. "Surfside" is my way of doing that - watching the waves as they ripple and crash along the beach and marvel in the enormity and complexity of this one piece of our earth. I painted this piece with one color ink as a way to illustrate this - there can be a great amount of depth and meaning in something that is often viewed as simple, ordinary, or overlooked."
