Mycelium 2

"The microbiologist, Paul Stamets describes this beautiful phenomenon of Mycelium, as "Earth's natural internet." This underground highway of thread-like fungus or wiring is being discovered at kind of communication system between all plant life. They are even finding out that other plants will sometimes help a neighboring dying tree by sharing resources through the mycelium web. This painting is inspired by this idea, that the plant kingdom has an intelligent invisible shared network to distribute resources and transform waste. This "we" space re-frames the idea of a forest into a community that seeks to evolve together. Finding hair like textures for this painting could not be found in my usual way of collecting my palette; that is from the streets or gardens. So I used my white golden retriever's hair."
