Toni Lane
Washington, D.C.
Toni Lane is a resident artist and the Studio Art Coordinator at Art Enables, where she is known as a friendly and supportive presence in the studio. Drawing on a lifetime of artistic experience and her own prolific practice, she adds to the creative community around her by encouraging and guiding her peers.
When working on her own art, Toni turns inward, channeling deep focus into documenting the realities of society. Her work addresses themes such as homelessness, race and class discrimination, domestic violence, mental health, and the everyday struggles people endure. At the same time, she often celebrates the joys of life- family, childhood memories, and personal relationships.
Regardless of the subject, Toni brings immediacy and intensity to her art, rendering the full spectrum of human emotions, desires, and struggles. She works across a variety of media, with a particular love for oil pastels and ink, using them to chronicle the societal forces that shape her worldview. For Toni, art is both an obligation and a calling: a means to explore her friendships, memories, and connections.
