Splashes of Blue

"This piece was started in the Spring of 2018, with a pastel and raw pigment, underpainted beach. After the under-painting cured, I used resin with acrylic ink, mica, and mixed pigmented epoxy paste to paint 3 layers over the initial underpainting; over a period of 6 months. I used a torch and a heat gun to create the effect of lace. I lightly sanded the final layer in grade stages of fine-grain sand papers. The final splash effect was hand painted 2 months later, until I had the value and effects that are seen (December 27, 2018). This painting is inspired by my love of cellular biology, biochemistry, and the healing effects of fluids/water. The final sealant layer is a clear, cold-wax that was buffed over this piece."
