Prayers of the People
"I began this painting in the Spring of 2020, at the start of the COVID pandemic. On a blue background, I painted dark blue smoky swirls to represent the thousands of prayers of suffering people around the world.
Dark and depressing, it sat unfinished in my studio for almost a year. But in the early months of 2021, as a sense of hope returned, I began to add subtle color and areas of dancing light. It seemed to me as if light and life were being breathed into my painting as renewed hope was being breathed into me."
