Living Water

"I had begun this painting with a clear vision, which I felt I had nearly achieved. I just needed to add one final touch, but then I messed it up. The harder I worked to fix it, the messier and muddier it became. I grew so angry and frustrated that I broke down crying. I poured water all over the ruined painting to wash away the horrible "mud" that I had created. I left the canvas to dry overnight, intending to paint over the canvas. The next morning, I returned to find that a fresh, new, beautiful painting had emerged! I loved the deep, watery blues against my bold white brush strokes and the way the wispy drips seemed to rise up like splashing waves! I chose the title "Living Water" because the experience reminded me of a beautiful story about a woman who had experienced such undeserved mercy and forgiveness that it was like unlimited refreshment for her thirsty soul (John 4:13-14)."
