"My 'Yellows' series is a collection of hard edge paintings and digital works that uses varying shades of
yellow to define and separate geometry, create depth and in some cases, illusion. On those pieces where the
yellows are used in gradation, the tightness of the yellow tonal values creates the appearance of a shadow
being cast on the adjacent yellow.
'Yellows 1' was the first in of my 'Yellows' series. It was to be an experiment to see how many shades of
yellow could exist on one piece of art without being used more than once.In it, I created right angles using
shades of yellows to define and separate the angles. With this particular painting, I did not organize the
yellow tones to see if the separation of geometry could be achieved without placing the next shade in the
range adjacent to the current one. While it took some thought, I was able to accomplish it."
