"Winter's Dawn of Quiet Renewal is a piece that invites one into a tranquil moment of reflection. It has a swirling arrangement of leaf imprints, layered across the surface to create a textured pattern that feels deliberate and organic. I used various shades of blue across the canvas lending to a sense of depth and subtle movement that echoes the stillness and promise of a winter morning. The detailed veins and edges of each leaf underscore the connection between natural forms and quiet endurance, while the monochromatic palette lends to a harmonious
atmosphere that encourages calm and introspection. The circular flow of the leaves draws ones attention inward, suggesting a gentle renewal beneath the surface, as if the quiet of winter holds the steady pulse of growth yet to come which I also equate to someone working in quiet and within before revealing to the outside world what they have accomplished/achieved/changed.
This piece may be considered both grounded and expansive, offering space for thoughtful pause through a balanced composition and restrained, yet rich, use of color. I painted a blue background to represent the cool of winter and then used various leaves to make an imprint, allowed that layer to dry, then painted over the leaves with a tinted wash. I repeated that step numerous times to add depth to the piece. I finished the piece with a satin varnish."
