Winter Fencerow

"For a long time, I have been inspired by rural fencerows in the winter. I love how the frost clings to dried grass and how the snow creates soft waves. In this painting, I began by creating intuitive shapes with goldenrod and black walnut dye. I planned my composition around these marks, and focused on creating a wild fencerow of dried plants in the foreground. The movement of the plants continues into the sky, which is a crisp, wintery, shade of blue."
