"I wanted to show the sun coming up in a city that is abandoned but not yet reclaimed by nature. I gave the buildings a sense of fiery movement from the sunlight."

ACRLYIC ON CANVAS
24" x 18"
“I feel very liberated when I make art. There are really no limits to what I want to show on the canvas. It gives me more freedom than I have in real life.”
Lucas Farlow has been making art for his whole life. His preferred style was drawing for years until a painting class made him fall in love with acrylic painting. Lucas gets inspiration from everything he sees. He loves painting cars, but he is inspired by landscapes he passes and photos his friends post online, as well as the works of artists like Van Gogh and Cezanne.
Living with Cerebral Palsy makes it difficult for him to sit for long periods of time, but he says, “I get totally engrossed in my paintings… Time flies for me. I can paint for usually up to three or four hours at a time.” Lucas values hard work and overcoming struggles and he views his art as a huge accomplishment in the face of his Cerebral Palsy.
Besides painting, Lucas’s main passion is cars. He owns a Mustang that he loves to drive and he attends car shows when he can. He also works part time for his father and has volunteered for Emergency Family Assistance and Habitat for Humanity.
Being a part of ArtLifting means a lot to Lucas because “it will be the push in the right direction I need in order to solidify myself as an artist.”
