Untitled (Herx)
"Untitled (Herx) draws inspiration from the Herxheimer reaction, a phenomenon commonly associated with Lyme disease. Warm colors dominate the canvas, symbolizing vitality and healing, while the repeated black dots or polka dots represent the overwhelming presence of bacteria, triggering the Herxheimer effect. The Herxheimer reaction, also known as a Herx or Herxing, occurs when large amounts of toxins are released into the body as a result of the rapid death of harmful microorganisms, such as bacteria, during the treatment of Lyme disease. This immune response can cause an exacerbation of symptoms, temporarily intensifying pain and discomfort. Through a vibrant palette of warm hues, Untitled (Herx) encapsulates the profound interplay between pain, healing, and transformation. The invasion of black dots signifies the overwhelming presence of bacteria, representing the struggle and turmoil experienced during the Herxheimer reaction."
