Trapasata

"Trapasata was made as part of my fall 2019 collection, Sommesso. Sommesso was conceived as a celebration of quiet moments, and the imagery was primarily inspired by the marshlands approaching the North Carolina Outer Banks. This piece is one of several from this collection that incorporates hand embroidery. The canvas was cut and then sewn with embroidery thread, leaving open holes in several places in the canvas. The piece's title translates to pierced, and attempts to emulate the sensation of being emotionally touched by a moment or place."
