Sun Skies

"I love working with metallic paints and using the the reflective glow of the metallic to bring out subtle highlights in a painting. "Sun Skies" is another one of the four pieces of my Rustic Layering collection. I enhanced different colors by layering metallic paints throughout this piece using different directions of the squeegee. In this piece the gold and bronze paints represent the light of the sun shining through a teal blue sky. The textures were created by using a squeegee in opposite directions, lifting layers of paint from the canvas and complementing the brilliant contrasts of sunlight and blue skies, adding textures to the canvas. I worked to bring out the layers upon layers of paints and with the stroke of the squeegee created new highlights."
