Summer Symphony of Hope

Zo

"This piece is a vibrant expoloration of nature's abundance. It immerses the viewer in a rich tapestry of green leaves, layered densely across the canvas to create a sense of depth and vitality. Each leaf is detailed with delicate veins and subtle edges which add texture and form. The varied shades of green, balanced by occasional white highlights bring in an interplay of light and shadow that simulates the lushness of a thriving summer garden. In the process of creating this piece, actual leaves were used to imprint each shape, lending an organic authenticity to the dense foliage. The result is a textured, lively surface that invites closer inspection, revealing intricate patterns and natural variation. Inspired by the theme of summer growth, this piece celebrates the resilience and energy found in nature's flourishing moments. I was inspired to create this piece as I watched my potted blackberry plant change through the different seasons. I thought it resembled phases we go through in life. In the summer, there are new buds, the plant fills out with abundant leaves, and the fruit starts to grow. There is a lot of hope for what can be. Like in the phase of our life when we are on the right path and doing well, striving to achieve our goals, celebrating each step we make in the right direction and hope for success. It is a time of abundance when things are going well in life. I thought since the blackberry plant gave me the inspiration, it was only fitting that I would use the leaves from the same plant to create the art piece. Each leaf print is a little different even when using the same leaf. Like the days of our lives. Each day is ours but each day is different and may vary in shade/color or form. But like each leaf, each day is special and the accumulation of our days is our life. One leaf doesn't make the whole piece just like one day does not make our entire life. I used a green blended background and then used various leaves to make an imprint, allowed that layer to dry then painted over the leaves with a green tinted wash. I repeated that step numerous times to add depth to the piece. I finished the piece with a satin varnish."
