Shadow Box
"This piece emerged out of experimenting with working with grids on the canvas. I was playing with how rectangles and squares can interact, which got me thinking about depicting objects and text in the boxes. I was thinking about the ordinary objects in our offices and work spaces; at one time a stapler, a pair of scissors and a roll of tape were drawn on the canvas. Only the mug and one piece of text at upper right survived to the final product, but I love the result and look forward to exploring this style more."
