Sandia Diptych 1

"The Sandia mountains lie just above my town of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I love muti-panel paintings and wanted to make one of my favorite mountain. I usually start my cubist landscapes with a skyline, and horizon line. I looked at multiple sources for inspiration, but came up with a sky that is not natural colored, and doesn't contain human geography. I use purple instead of black for shading, and painted the sides to line up with each other. I love the Sandia mountains, and hope to paint more of them with different lighting and at different times of the year."
