Salvation

"This painting depicts a running horse moving through time, towards an unbounded state. This painting is important to me because it marks a time in my life where I experienced salvation – the protection from a dangerous situation – and its transforming experience. Inspired by the Cranberries song “Salvation” whose chorus repeated: “Salvation is free,'' I painted a horse that embodied that line. The process for making this painting involved making a tan background and adding decorative sides. I sketched a horse and traced it onto the canvas using tattoo tracing paper. I added axis lines and more designs, while blending some shapes and taking out others. What eventually emerged was a horse integrated into its background and “moves” through each section. "
