Red Vines

"Taken on a rare walk outside, in the day. I’d noticed how vivid the red veins of the leaves were on some creeping vines. I had an IV port at the time, and dealing with and thinking about veins, needles and dealing with this equipment was something a large amount of my time was taken up with. It wasn’t an unconscious thing -- I could feel the port in my arm and the pressure of the protective cuff covering it as I took the photos. We all know, but hardly think about the symmetries in nature -- but the veins in the leaves serve the same purpose and look so much like our own. Veins and vines."
