"When I begin a work of art I will start from one of two places, either beginning with an emotion or a color. In the case of Purification Cycle, I began with the color RED. I felt into RED and inhabited it. I allowed myself to self-indulgently feel deeply the way RED feels all the way down. As shapes and movement began to emerge in the work, a clear theme began to form."
