Pink Glacier

"This very large watercolor paper is first laid out on the floor. I spend a long time adding colors, saturating the paper & my senses in the color. It always dries differently & shapes can change forms and intensity. I enjoy working and playing with them. I let them do what they want and then I work the forms to my liking. the lines are a meditation in movement and travel. They are like paths. This one I like, in particular, because of the strong blue of the lines and the numerical & straightness of the lines echos masculine traits, while the pink open, ephemeral expansiveness reveals the feminine. That gives the piece a really nice balance.

I painted this, and a few days later the Iceland glacier volcano blew."
