Pace Myself
"Life is hectic and demanding. It's important to pace yourself and take it one moment at a time. This piece was apart of a drawing series I did. I used drawing as a way to cope with my OCD, depression and anxiety and distract me from the things going on around me. During this period I was struggling to leave my house and go places. I used drawing as a way to go to parks or sit outside and mindfully engage my brain. Each piece I would start out with a select color palette that I felt matched my emotions for that day. I then would allow each piece to form into its own composition. After this I would reflect on the piece and find a sense of relief from my compulsions. When creating this piece, I was exploring the challenge of pacing myself mentally. I had been struggling to find a steady rhythm for processing my thoughts, emotions, and relationships. This struggle with balance inspired the work, and I tried to capture a sense of pacing and flow within the composition itself a visual reflection of the effort to find the right rhythm in life."
