Nightfall
"As the cool of the night descends, the world slows, offering a quiet refuge for the restless mind. The day's end becomes a gentle pause, a moment where the relentless spiral of thoughts can finally find stillness. In the soothing embrace of twilight, there’s a sense of release, as if the weight of the day's anxieties can be set down, allowing for a peaceful breath. The process of this piece was an evolution of layering multiple compositions on top of one another. Both brush and palette knife were used to create a complex surface filled with varied marks and textures. I wanted to reveal subtle glimpses of the earlier layers beneath, allowing sections of the previous compositions to show through. This fragmented quality was intentional each layer represents pieces of myself that I once wanted to cover up or let go of. The inspiration for this piece stemmed from the idea of exploring the many layers of the human mind and soul. I wanted to create a work that felt immersive something you could lose yourself in while looking at it. At the time, I was participating in an intensive group therapy program for OCD. Many of my peers were also navigating their own mental health challenges, which made me reflect deeply on the complexity of the mind. After long days of therapy and creating art, my evenings became a time for reflection and release. Through meditation and letting go of the day’s worries, I found moments of rest and clarity. This painting became an extension of that process a visual representation of peeling back the layers of thought, emotion, and healing."
