"This piece uses handmade paper, graphite, printmaking ink, vegetable-dyed rice paper, and mulberry paper, for the circles. The process of hand-dying using onion skins, avocado pits, and other organic materials, was an enlightening one. To withstand the process of dying, the paper needs to be extremely strong and absorbent. Rice paper is ideal for this process, and its versatility makes it perfect for collage and layering."
