Je Suis Malade

"Painted to & inspired by the sublime ballad, “Je Suis Malade”, by Laura Fabian - I became completely immersed in the emotion & movement of this song. I listened to it hundreds & hundreds of times as I worked on this piece as I morn & process the passing of my father in June. The song is a soul’s cry to the winds - about the anguish of the loss of love - which is how mourning feels for me. Using only my fingers - no brushes or instruments were used to create the shapes & textures - I envisioned a solitary dancer - moving about the stage, her movements carrying out out the depths of her despair at the loss of a loved one - her costume reflecting purples, violets, blues, greens, & teals - shifting & shimmering - like sunlight shifting through a wet mist of tears."
