How Far You've Come

""Healing takes hope, it takes being courageous and soft hearted all at once. During moments of pain, when I’ve felt stuck, birdsongs and wing flutterings passing me by feel like anchors. I close my eyes to listen closely.
I imagine the incredible force it takes for the hummingbird to spread their wings against the currents and nature as they keep soaring, how large must the sun be.
How soft, fragile even, and yet so strong.
As I return filled with the colors of a sunset in the mountains, the lavenders and blues of these tiny beings, I let myself find them in my palette, sometimes fleeting quietly, sometimes unfurling with force.
I imagine my thoughts soaring like them, into the warm, lit paths; I imagine myself in acceptance of what is and the possibilities I don’t yet know.
In here I can be soft, fragile even, and yet so strong.
[Reflections made in the painting process and thinking about visiting a quiet place in nature per the prompts from ArtLifting curators from 02/21/2024…]""
