Hospital on the Hill

"The hospital I was diagnosed at is located in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh, PA in the heart of the Pitt campus. Pittsburgh is known for its steep hills and the hospital and eye center that I frequently find myself in is located on one of our steeper hills. I always thought this was an odd choice to house the sick. With this piece, I began playing around with connecting shapes and lines and as it took shape, it reminded me of a caricature of Lothrop street (where the hospital is located). I was intent on this piece retaining a positive vibe. The hospital on the hill gives me opportunity. Throughout my experiences at doctor appointments and throughout my sickness, I try to infuse my visits with as much laughter I can bring to the table. I have cherished all the relationships I have made with the doctors and nurses I see regularly."
