Hidden Beach

"One of the very lucky things about where I live in Santa Cruz is living just next to a large nature reserve, from well out into the bay right up to the back of my apartment. There's so much natural beauty here, and very accessible to me. Near us, there's a small neighborhood just at the coast. Crossing through this small gated community, we can go down into a very idyllic area, a beautiful pond with bridges, lily pads, and sometimes wildlife that's an awful lot like the forest in Bambi—frogs, birds, rabbits, egrets. And just past that, it opens into an ocean cove, a small hidden beach. It's really very magical, and during low tide, it also allows access to tide pools and other small gems of beach areas. We go whenever we can, and this abstract is taken from a series of photos I took from there."
