Forest Slumber

"Near here, in the nature reserve (Natural Bridges), there's a narrow but very lush forest/wetland. Massive redwoods, lots of animals, rock formations, water inlets. There's a butterfly sanctuary in there. I always notice how lush and alive it is. I went to it in late November and it was as though much of it was getting ready to sleep/rest for the winter. There were tree stumps with amazing ring patterns, and rather hidden were some of the same kind of rock formations with fossil-like marks and imprints. All of these elements (and a few more) together, to me, feel like the moment I thought of that natural slumber every year."
