"This image is part of a new series of images showing the various textures found among Sonoran Desert plant life. Life in the desert demands that a plant develop ways of protecting itself and the precious water held within the plant. I used a square composition and black and white processing intended to show the intricate textures. But lighthouses are made to lead the way through the dark. To convey that feeling, I edited it in Photoshop to be a night image with the beam of the light piercing the fog."
