Cultivating Joy

"This painting is about promoting wellbeing. My hope is that when people view this painting, they pause and reflect on the goodness in their own lives in that moment---and meditate on HOW they cultivate joy in their own lives. There are many ways to cultivate joy. From gratitude practice, to simple activities like going on a walk in nature to embracing new positive changes that fit your life.

My process began with meditating on the meaning of the painting. I thought about the health benefits of gratitude and how practicing gratitude cultivates more joy in our lives. When I feel more joy---I am inspired to explore more actions that nourish my well-being. As I meditated--I started unconsciously painting and translating my contemplations into movement, colors, shapes, lines and brush strokes. I am inspired by my experiences living with chronic illnesses and chronic pain. Despite the exhausting challenges of my health landscape, I am committed to living a full life. I use my art as way to convey nourishing ideas and lifestyle practices that support wellness. Looking at my art reminds me of empowering ideas and actions that improve my life.

I created this art at home in Denver, CO. I made this art as a visual reminder to practice gratitude and to cultivate joy in meaningful ways everyday. I believe looking at art can inspire others."
