Blizzard of Hope

"One winter, I was stuck in a subway car on the Williamsburg bridge during a blizzard. The train didn’t move for hours. When we finally crossed into Brooklyn, I started walking home. The drifts of snow were gigantic and I wasn’t sure I’d make there. Each step felt heavy. My phone was out of battery and it was scary for a moment. I remember looking down at my colorful knit mittens. From there, I took one step at a time until I finally arrived at my door. This painting resembles that time. Vibrant color peeks out from a blizzard of white. Sometimes everything around us is blurry but focusing on one simple part is enough to lead us home. May this painting remind us that hope is available and can guide us to warmth, comfort and safety."
