" I remember learning the story about the pigment ulramarine when I was a little girl; how the gemstones used to create this deep blue were of such high value that it was reserved for only the most important subjects. Ever since that time I felt a strong desire both to wear the stone lapis lazuli; and to one day mix my own ultramarine paint. This triptych is the result of my first, very blissful experience mixing my own ultramarine paint from dry pigment. Though thanks to modern science, no precious lapis lazuli were harmed in their creation; the process was immensely satisfying, and the resulting paintings bring me endless joy."
