"This is one of many snowy owl paintings I completed in 2021. I feel inspired by the mystery of owls, and perhaps can relate to how they hide and camouflage themselves. As I began painting structures indicative of my life in the Southwest spontaneously appeared in the background, emphasizing the original cruciform structure I wanted to use. The cruciform was not intended to be a religious symbol, but more of a strong artistic structure with which to relate the flight of the owl; a challenge to relate the flight to a strong horizontal and vertical."
