Architecture of a Fractured Mind

"The foundations of the mind are delicate and easily shaken, with fragile thoughts and emotions built upon them. In the midst of uncertainty, hope stands as the only steadfast cornerstone, holding everything together. The process for this piece began with sketching ideas that combined faces and buildings into a single composition. After creating a series of sketches, I chose this composition to develop in paint. I wanted to experiment with a minimalist color palette, so I started by establishing the background and then incorporated the sketched forms. From there, I allowed the image to evolve organically, letting the composition shape itself over time. When creating this piece, I was inspired by the idea of the mind as a series of interconnected compartments like a building or a labyrinth. I wanted to create something that felt connected, yet slightly disjointed at the same time. The structure has no clear beginning or end, reflecting the continuous flow of thought. On closer observation, the piece also reveals different faces, representing the varied emotions and perspectives that coexist within a single mind."
