Acceptance

"Acceptance began as a darker piece that was missing pretty much any color saturation. At the time of creation, it felt done. As the months went on, I kept staring at it on my wall until deciding to take a risk and try to add some color. I did this after visiting Oregon and falling in love with its magic, and I think that's where the colors come out. The Pacific Ocean shoreline particularly called to me, and I see it here. It's an acceptance that I may be ready to take more risks in my life and try new things in order to become the person I was meant to be. And also shed those parts holding me back. I wrote this after painting the original version, and I still feel it relates: I miss you like the fire I felt Arm reaching out in the dark Fingers dancing along the flame Tracing the edge of a dreamscape Looking for something familiar To lift me up and away Float with all these things I've become Let go of what I no longer need Searching for a piece of gold in the night Anything to hold beside this feeling Release myself into the vapors To be grounded again in the day"
