"Comprised of a series of right angles, '90 Degrees x 2' is part of an experiment to create monochromatic+ paintings using bright colors to interrupt its monochrome aspects. Here, with gray as the primary color, I used varying shades to create a gradient beginning with the darkest gray on the outer edge.

The idea of monochromatic paintings would later carry over to my 'Yellows' series, where there were no additional colors added."
