We are currently growing our presence in So-Cal and have artists from the Oceanside area as well as Los Angeles.
Three of ArtLifting’s LA-based artists currently create art at the Washington Reid Gallery and the adjoining UCPLA Washington Place Adult Day Program as part of United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA). This program supports a vigorous community of working artists with a variety of developmental conditions, such as autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome.
UCPLA offers a range of studio practice instruction in the following disciplines: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital and media. A cornerstone of the program practice includes adaptive tools developed in partnership with the artists to take professional processes and make them more physically accessible. Artists with different physical challenges are empowered to independently drive every part of the art making process and create their own authentic mark.
The UCPLA artists, studio and gallery space push the definitions of what art practice and professionalism look like today, as they actively create new models of inclusion and art process through their programming.
