“I have learned that there is a deep well of faith, resilience, and creativity within me. Art has been a space where I can be honest, surrender control, and trust that even what feels heavy can be transformed into something beautiful.”

For Los Angeles-based artist Hannah Hosanna, creativity has never been a passive pastime. From her earliest memories, art served as a sanctuary. As a child, she would color on her bedroom window moldings and scribble on the laundry room walls. During terrifying thunderstorms, she would grab a coloring book just to calm her little spirit. This innate drive was nurtured by her mom, who made art accessible, and her elementary school art teacher, Mrs. Maglio. Mrs. Maglio was a true champion who entered Hannah into local competitions and taught her to view imitation not as discouragement, but as a compliment. This early foundation established art as Hannah's ultimate tool for meaningful connection.

However, the true catalyst for Hannah's current artistic voice emerged from a season of profound personal transformation. Her creative process was deeply reshaped by the simultaneous experience of becoming a mom and, just four months later, being diagnosed with stage IV cancer.

“That season changed how I see everything,” Hannah reflects. “When my physical body felt weak and unfamiliar, creating gave me a way to stay present. After the hardest days, art gave me something I could press toward, reminding me that there was still beauty, life, and tremendous purpose ahead of me.”

This intense period of physical weakness taught Hannah to release control and create from a place of pure trust. Through illness, she encountered a deep, real faith - a faith that she no longer feels the need to explain or justify. Through this, she discovered the power of intentionality, learning to shift her focus from what she was facing to what she was believing in.

This profound shift fundamentally altered her visual style. Hannah began her career in hyperrealism, focusing heavily on precision, control, and meticulous detail. Today, her work has transitioned into something much softer, more expressive, and instinctively driven.

“My style now leans more childlike and emotionally driven, rooted in faith, resilience, and wonder,” Hannah explains. “I am less focused on perfection and more focused on feeling, connection, and the story behind each piece. That shift has allowed my work to feel more honest and more aligned with who I am today.”

Working across a vibrant range of mediums including pastels, acrylics, house paint, and mixed textures, Hannah feels most connected to oil paint. The richness and slower drying time of oils allow her to build intentional layers and remain in a state of flow. Her compositions are heavily influenced by the landscapes of Los Angeles, the textures of nature, and the masters of light and color, like Matisse and Monet. Her pieces blend nostalgic memories with futuristic imagination, exploring relationships shaped by love, loss, and remembrance.

Ultimately, Hannah views her art as a bridge. Her partnership with ArtLifting is a natural extension of this philosophy, aligning with her deep belief in the mission of dignity, belonging, and visibility. Having lived through cancer and witnessed how easily people can feel overlooked, Hannah views validation as an essential act of devotion.

“I love that art can hold both beauty and pain at the same time. It gives space for honesty, while still offering hope. After living through cancer, I believe one of the most powerful ways to love is to help someone imagine more for themselves than what they can see today.”
