Lucas Farlow (he/him/his)

Denver, CO

“I feel very liberated when I make art. There are really no limits to what I want to show on the canvas. It gives me more freedom than I have in real life.”

Lucas Farlow has been making art for his whole life. For a while, he confined himself to drawing until a painting class made him fall in love with the medium. He recalls taking this class during a time of loneliness and depression. Living with Cerebral Palsy makes it difficult for Lucas to sit for long periods of time, but he says, “I get totally engrossed in my paintings… Time flies for me. I can paint for usually up to three or four hours at a time.” With constant back and leg pain he emphasizes that "painting makes the pain worth it."

Lucas gets inspiration from everything he sees. He's always been drawn to cars and often represents them in his painting.  He owns a Mustang that he loves to drive and attends car shows when he can. For a while, he wanted to be a car designer and still has a collector's eye in the auto body world. Aside from cars, he draws inspiration from the landscapes he passes and from photos his friend's post online. He has actively opened himself up to the digital world of creatives in social media in which there is a constant flow and exchange of image inspiration. That's the sphere he accredits to sourcing inspiration from these days.

Being a part of ArtLifting means a lot to Lucas because “it will be the push in the right direction I need in order to solidify myself as an artist.”
