Breakthrough

"I started this painting off as a nude figure painting, but I felt like there was a barrier there where the head is. It felt like there was an actual structure between me and the rest of the world, separating me. So I was trying to break through that concrete wall and reaching into someplace else, other than where I was. I had a lot of problems with depression and communication every day due to ASD, for years. I also began realizing that a lot of the things that I used to believe were actually not true, which changed the way that I had chosen to live my life. The painting ended up changing into the figure distorting into roots which were getting all tangled up in its environment."
