"Meditation in Motion is an exploration of colors and form.
I started with the deep Navy and blue colors in the center.
The rest took shape organically as I gave myself permission to explore this space. I like to think my paintbrush is making footsteps across the canvas. Every brush stroke is created with the intent to generate "motion" with a cascade of colors. It feels like I'm exploring movement with every color and every brush stroke. It starts with round brush & one color, creating new "trails" and color cascades one section at a time.
I "walk" my brush strokes forward, one at a time, taking care to keep my brush strokes as uniform as possible- making only subtle shifts in my handling of the brush.
I must have been channeling Vincent Van Gogh, because I didn't realize until later that I used colors that remind me of him. I didn't want the brush strokes to overcrowd the space, so some time towards the end I decided to make a few sections curl inward and outward. It needed a space for the eyes to rest. It was a lesson in composition."
