Entwined #4

"One of the materials I have been exploring in my work is discarded rope. Physically, I’m drawn to its depth, texture and the way it naturally coils into organic curvy lines and circles.
Rope is also a powerful and evocative material. Its inherent duality – both a tool of resilience and a symbol of constraint. Rope, in its most basic form, is a symbol of connection. It binds us together, both physically and metaphorically. It is the thread that weaves through our lives, connecting us to our ancestors, our communities, and our shared humanity.
In my artwork, I use rope to explore this complex and multifaceted history. I weave it into intricate patterns, symbolizing the interconnectedness of life’s experiences. I tie it into knots, representing the challenges and obstacles we all face. And I use it to create structures that are both strong and fragile, reflecting its symbolic dualities."
