"In March, we had a sort of spring. I was out one day, the nature reserve we live next to had exploded with lushness, color, very near a pond adjoining the ocean. I walked by a field of wildflowers, white, blue, yellow, and orange. It was near dusk, the light wasn’t good, but really had a clear idea of some collages I’d like to make with that material. I really wanted to capture that, had ideas, it really stayed with me, but I’ve been too sick to get out. I kept returning to this memory. So I went just outside, found wildflowers, not great ‘shots’, but material to use. As I was finishing, I realized watching Studio Ghibli movies lately really influenced some of the direction I took."
