Before the Last Frost
"This is the moment when gardeners find themselves checking, and checking again, the calendar—longing for the last frost date to finally arrive. The ground remains hard beneath our feet, and the landscape is still subdued, painted in more shades of brown than green. A lingering threat of ice hovers in the air. Our own breath turns visible, drifting in soft clouds, carrying with it the crisp scent of winter that has not yet released its hold. And so, we look back to the calendar once more...impatient for the warmth to come."
