"Prismacolor pencils were used. Cactuses attract me because of their symmetry and beauty. They are the perfect subject for pleasing composition and eye catching beauty, a lot of detail but not nearly as much as dense leaves."
- Glenn Goldstein

“Do what you love doing and keep at it”
Born into a creative family that includes a gifted inventor and an award-winning fashion designer, Glenn Goldstein’s artistic prowess seems right in place. Primarily self-taught, Glenn has operated his own darkroom from his apartment kitchen for over thirty years. He creates prints in both color and black and white.
Glenn’s makes art “to achieve peace and good feelings.” He equally enjoys the creation process and viewing the final results of his work. Glenn explains that creating prints is an act of perseverance and and patience, so finishing the majority of his pieces is an accomplishment of which Glenn is particularly proud.
Previously a staunch perfectionist, Glenn has grown more comfortable with making mistakes while creating art. He has come to terms with the fact that prints can be “cloned or corrected” if need be. This realization has dramatically loosened his approach to creating prints and has made the production process a more freeing and enjoyable experience. Never one to give up, Glenn aims to improve his skills by frequently producing art. He is pleased with the progress he has made at his craft over the years and has developed an expansive collection of prints.
Glenn is enthusiastic about sharing his work with a larger audience through the ArtLifting platform. He is particularly appreciative of positive feedback from viewers of his work. “People’s positive comments lift my spirits and encourage me to keep doing my art.” He explains that this external validation and encouragement not only motivates him to improve the quality of his finished work but also greatly improves the quality of his life. ArtLifting’s supporters give Glenn hope. He believes that their interest in works created by artists experiencing homelessness and living with disability “shows that some people care about the less fortunate..and that there may be an improvement in the quality of their lives.”
