"The day is nearly done
Busy with this
Busy with that
Artistic flow gets stagnant
among the hustle and bustle of daily routines
It gives little time, though, to breath in the juxtaposition
of the simplicity and complexity of everyday human interactions
How will I respond to the world?
Who will I be on this day?
Will I forget myself in the midst of responsibility?
Do I loose or discover myself when absorbed by the muse?
Perhaps I find myself when I am aware of how I am responding to the world
Perhaps I ponder myself through the muse...
It is always you looking at me, looking at me, looking at you
Respond-reflect-respond
Until finally we know
And we can just be"

Christina Culverhouse

Austin, Texas

“Art is a place for the conscious and unconscious parts of myself to communicate and express through the creative experience, and an opportunity to process and portray these experiences onto the canvas.”

Christina is a dedicated artist and educator with over 20 years of experience in the fields of creative arts, education, and leadership. As a visual artist, Christina has an eclectic body of work in multi-media platforms. She has designed four websites and has landed several venues in Austin Texas to showcase her art. She holds three degrees from St. Edward’s University in Austin: a Bachelor of Arts in Art, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Master of Arts in College Student Development.

Christina has an exceptional eye for innovation and creativity, extensive skills in strategic planning and leadership, as well as experience in education, assessment, and research. During her internships at St. Edward's University, she applied her skills to further the growth and development of the university's student service programs and departments. She had the leading role of establishing and managing social media platforms, brand identity, and enhancing the design and layout of websites for these programs and departments.

Currently, Christina is working as a freelance artist where she employs her talents and skills in painting, drawing, photography, layout production, and web design.

Christina says, “Perhaps the most important layer is the story I have about myself that formed from one or more experiences. I spend a lot of time thinking about what 'makes me tick,' so to speak, both on the conscious and unconscious level - and all of that which 'makes me tick' directly impacts and influences the everyday choices, from the mundane to the seemingly more profound. So, as I create, all of this is interplaying in my mind, my heart, my body, and is then portrayed through poetic language and/or images on the canvas.”
