Douglas joined ArtLifting in 2015 when he was creating his artwork at Saint Francis House, a haven for individuals living with homelessness in Boston. In the summer of 2019, Douglas relocated to Chicago to receive treatment for the bone disease he has been living with for many years.
He first began to create artwork after experiencing a stroke many years ago. Douglas started to paint and create collages to express himself. Instead of focusing on how his stroke altered his life, Douglas chooses to stay positive and keep creating every day. He is incredibly excited and honored to know that people own his artwork and have it hanging in their homes and offices.
His natural ability to create colorfully energetic pieces has captured the eyes and hearts of many. His works are often lauded for their visual complexity, layering, texture, and dynamic composition. There's often no rhyme or reason to the "how" or "why," behind his works. It's all intuitively structured. His last stroke provides a lasting impression.
ArtLifting champions artists impacted by homelessness or disabilities through the celebration and sale of their artwork. Learn more here.
