“Art is in my heart and soul and I love the opportunity to express and share my love for it with those who would receive it.”
Anthony Taylor makes art to first find beauty and then cherish it through his visual interpretation. He describes his artwork as “infused with love and positivity.” He has persevered through poverty, disability, and culture shock to learn that “life is truly too short and wonderful to succumb to harmful distractions.” Anthony is a New York native and currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island where he attends art groups at McAuley House, a community-based service provider for people who are homeless. Fortunately, Anthony was able to secure housing through the supportive services of McAuley House.
Anthony starts his days with an early morning of jazz or classical violin. He does not have favorite art materials because he enjoys using any materials that fit his mood in the moment. This is a theme throughout his artistic style, which he describes as “intuitive and whatever tickles my fancy.
Anthony is also a musician, photographer, poet, and martial arts enthusiast. He enjoys teaching art classes at Anchor Recovery, a program for individuals struggling with addiction. He hopes for a healthy life and to “never lose the desire to share a smile.”
