"The rock dove, or as it is more commonly known, the feral pigeon, is quite an amazing creature. While it possesses the ability to travel very large distances, they do not migrate. many of these species have been moved to specific places in the world by man. Our feral pigeons of Boston, likely descendants of carrier pigeons of old. The rock dove takes its coloring from its habitat. This is why some have been especially prized for having a pure white coloring, while others look more like our own urban terrain. Some adapting the reddish tones of brick while others take on the grays and blues of concrete. They are a testament to the resilient and adaptive nature of a true city dweller."
