"Painting and drawing have often given me a way to escape bodily pain. I enjoy creating beauty, using color and light, because it gives me a way to feel more elevated than the trappings of my physical dimension. This is what I did as a three year old, confined to a traction device, and so my propensity for making fanciful color landscapes and other objects continues. The free and easy movement of this piece exemplifies the yearnings of my spirit, especially during days when I am in pain."
